Our First Food Drive!

Our first food drive was highly inspirational for us hunger helpers. It was a beautiful experience of feeding the needy, we were so glad that we got to view their expressions, reactions and helpful responses. As we approached them, enthusiasm arose and drifted around infecting each one of us! When they possessed the knowledge of our movement they were exhilarating. They had an adrenalin rush! They were thrilled to find out that they were receiving food for one whole month. At first, we had butterflies in our stomachs as we had never done this before, and didn't have the slightest clue of how this was going to go on about. We reached the Worli slum, and in the blink of an eye, there were long lines formed, with huddling people. In the light blow of breeze, beads of sweat trickled down our faces. The boxes weighed 15 kg each when there we came to a conclusion that we certainly weren't bodybuilders, and our stringy arms did not have what it needed to pick those large, hefty boxes! Thus we collaborated with the Robin Hood Food Army. The volunteers helped us organize the people in lines and avoid chaos.

The boxes were well packed and in good condition to reuse again for multiple purposes. With the help of a truck, we were able to feed 200 families!

There are many people with different professions who help us, probably once a lifetime like teachers, doctors, lawyers, priests etc. But, a farmer is someone we need lifelong, 3 times a day, every day. Their excitement made me realize the true value of handwork, love, time and food which of all we are provided with because of our farmers, who are connected with the very soul of our earth and believe in nurturing it and keeping the tradition and culture alive to have the Earth well-nourished and us too!

We received tons of blessings and good wills from these lovely people.

Those wonderful faces are impossible to forget and their willingness motivates me to do more good deeds. As their jollity and felicity bring me contentment!
